Installation Guide
- Identify Reservoir Type: Verify your bike has square-style brake reservoir (not round 7/8″ handlebar type)
- Clean Work Area: Wipe reservoir top with clean cloth to prevent dirt entering brake system during cap removal
- Remove OEM Cap: Unscrew factory cap counterclockwise by hand (avoid using tools that may damage threads)
- Inspect O-Ring: Check included O-ring for proper seating in MMU075 cap groove before installation
- Thread Motone Cap: Hand-thread MMU075 cap clockwise until finger-tight (do not overtighten or use tools)
- Test Seal: Verify cap sits flush against reservoir top with no gaps or brake fluid seepage
Why Upgrade to Aluminum Reservoir Cap?
Plastic OEM brake reservoir caps fade, crack, and discolor from UV exposure and brake fluid contact. The Motone MMU075 aluminum cap provides permanent styling that won’t degrade over time. Die-cast construction handles vibration and temperature cycles better than plastic alternatives, while the finned design adds vintage character to modern liquid-cooled Triumphs. Unlike adhesive badges or temporary cosmetic upgrades, this cap serves as functional hardware that enhances both appearance and serviceability.
Maintenance
Clean cap with damp microfiber cloth during routine bike washing. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that may damage gloss black finish. Periodically check O-ring condition during brake fluid changes (every 2 years minimum). If cap becomes difficult to remove, apply light penetrating oil around threads and let sit 10 minutes before unscrewing. Hand-tightening only—no tools required for proper seal.
British Engineering Heritage
Designed by Motone in Britain specifically for modern Triumph motorcycles. Each cap undergoes quality inspection to ensure precise thread engagement and leak-free performance with DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 brake fluids.
